Awards and HonorsKoç University BMSE Ph.D. student, Houman Jalali, won the Nanoscale Horizons Prize at the Tenth International Conference on Quantum Dots (QD 2018) in Toronto, Canada with his work titled “Synthesis of Bio-compatible Type-II InP/ZnO Quantum Dots”. In this work, he demonstrated neural interfaces using biocompatible Type-II quantum dots for the first time and the award was given by University of Toronto vice-president Professor Ted Sargent. Materials synthesis and characterization of this work were done in IDEALAB under supervision of Sedat Nizamgolu and the biocompatibility tests were carried out in Halil Kavakli Lab at Koç University.

The article "Assessing dietary considerations in hidradenitis suppurativa: a critical examination of existing knowledge" authored by Assoc. Prof. Seçil Vural, Department of Dermatology at the School of Medicine, and her team investigate how diet might affect the progression of a chronic skin condition called Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) published in the International Journal of Dermatology.
